OBAMA-NEXT joins collaborative Field Campaign in Formentera
OBAMA-NEXT, in collaboration with C-BLUES project and SeaBee, is currently conducting an intensive field campaign in Formentera, running from September 16th to 20th. This joint venture highlights a strategic partnership aimed at advancing our understanding of marine ecosystems. The campaign features a robust team both on-site and remotely, comprising experts from various specialized fields. Participating groups include marine biologists, data analysts, and e-DNA specialists from NIVA, CSIC, RBINS and IACM among others, working in tandem to foster comprehensive research and data collection.
The primary goal of this campaign is to evaluate and enhance methodologies for mapping seagrass distribution monitoring, particularly focusing on integrating satellite data and AI with drone-based maps. The teams are engaged in a series of tasks including sampling, data analysis, and real-time monitoring, designed to provide comprehensive insights into the ecological dynamics and carbon sequestration processes within these habitats.
This campaign not only reflects OBAMA-NEXT’s commitment to advancing marine science through collaborative efforts but also contributing significantly to our strategies for marine conservation.
