OBAMA-NEXT Last General Assembly in Bilbao
OBAMA-NEXT partners gathered for the final General Assembly in Bilbao last week, bringing together representatives from all 22 partner institutions for a great milestone of the project’s journey.
Hosted by AZTI, the meeting marked the last in-person gathering before the end of the project. Over the course of the assembly, partners presented progress across all work packages, showcasing the breadth of technical achievements and highlighting the cross-cutting advances made in the development and validation of marine biodiversity information products at the project’s Learning Sites.
Particular emphasis was placed on the operational readiness of the Information Products and their application in diverse marine settings. The progress demonstrated at several Learning Sites reflects the project’s commitment to delivering integrated, policy-relevant data products to support European environmental directives such as the MSFD and Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
In addition to technical discussions, the assembly provided space to celebrate the consortium’s collective achievements. A team dinner and a quiz—expertly prepared by the coordinating team at Aarhus University—offered participants a chance to reflect, reconnect, and enjoy a well-earned moment of camaraderie.
As OBAMA-NEXT enters its final phase, this gathering underscored not only the scientific and methodological advances achieved, but also the strength of the collaboration that made them possible.
