OBAMA-NEXT project coordinator Professor Jacob Carstensen took center stage at the prestigious “Conference for Northeast Asia on Green, Low-Carbon, and High-Quality Marine Development” in Weihai, China. As an invited keynote speaker, Professor Carstensen shared invaluable insights and experiences in the management of eutrophication. This significant conference, co-hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China Association for Science and Technology, and the Provincial Government of Shandong, aimed to create a global platform for building consensus on green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.
Professor Jacob Carstensen’s keynote addressed the pressing challenges and notable successes in combatting eutrophication—a critical issue affecting aquatic environments worldwide. His expertise resonated with an audience of over 500 experts, comprising officials, scholars, and representatives from multinational corporations in China and abroad. Together, they explored strategies to drive change in support of China’s ambitious “dual carbon” goals.
This appearance marked a pivotal moment in the Horizon Europe project OBAMA-NEXT global outreach, reaffirming its dedication to preserving the health of our oceans and fostering international collaboration in marine science and sustainability.
